Prayer Concerns for the week of 1/30/2012

Burma, China, Thailand

  • Please keep close in prayer the ethnic hill tribe children and people of Burma’s Kachin State who are persecuted and displaced by Burma Army attacks. http://www.freeburmarangers.org/  http://tinyurl.com/6wk6yro
    • Pray for the two babies who were found in the jungle without food or warm clothing after their mothers were killed in an attack on their village last month. Pray for the relatives who are now caring for these orphaned children in a refugee camp.
    • Pray for all those missing after the attack. Many relatives have not reached the refugee camp yet.
    • Pray for 12-year-old Mitung whose mother was killed by Burma Army soldiers while he was in hiding.
    • Pray for the Kachin ethnic hill tribe children and people who have had their homes looted or burned; been forcibly recruited to be porters or guides for the Burma Army; been injured by landmines planted by the army or the Kachin resistance army; been raped or tortured; or had loved ones executed by the Burma Army.
      • Please pray for those who’ve been displaced by violence in Kachin State after the 17-year-old cease-fire ended last June. An estimated 7,000 people have fled to China and approximately 50,000 have been displaced inside Burma. Pray God will provide the supplies and medical care these refugees need to survive this time of displacement and conflict.  http://tinyurl.com/72nr5xk   http://tinyurl.com/85prkt2
      • Give thanks to God for the ceasefire agreement signed by the Burmese government and ethnic rebels in Burma’s Karen State. Please pray that this ceasefire will truly be an end to the 62-year-old conflict—one of the world’s longest running uprisings—between the Burma military and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).
        • Pray for the generations of ethnic hill tribe people who have been affected by this war that began in 1949, a year after Burma’s independence from Britain. Pray for those who have repeatedly been forced from their homes and villages by the Burma Army. Pray for children and families who fled to refugee camps on the Thai border to escape the army attacks. Many of these displaced people have spent their entire lives in refugee camps.  http://tinyurl.com/8xoqh45  http://tinyurl.com/7yf78kq
        • Pray for a lasting peace between the Burmese government and the ethnic hill tribe peoples of Burma. Please pray the negotiations with other major ethnic rebel groups—the Chin, the Mon, the Kachin, and the Kayah—will be fruitful. Pray that God will bring healing and reconciliation to this fractured country.
        • Please pray that those who’ve been displaced may return to their villages and live in peace. Pray that all landmines will be cleared and that all children forced into military service will be freed and provided with rehabilitation opportunities.

Sudan

  • Please keep the children and people of South Sudan in prayer as they flee tribal violence. Pray God will bring humanitarian aid to the 60,000 people in hiding who are desperate need of food, clean water, shelter, and medical assistance. http://tinyurl.com/75sn3nb

United States

  • Pray that God will to strengthen Austyn Dawn who was born three months premature and weighed 1 pound and 11 ounces. Pray Austyn will keep fighting to live. Her doctors are encouraged that Austyn is kicking her legs and moving her arms around. Please pray for her mother and father during this difficult and frightening time.
  • Give thanks to God for the ministry of Teen F.L.O.W. and their work with at-risk junior and senior high school youth. Pray for the staff and volunteers as they reach out to young people in the community and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for the teenagers who come to the Teen F.L.O.W. youth center during the afternoons and evenings for tutoring, games, athletics, fellowship, other extra-curricular activities, and worship.

Faces of Children

  • Please keep Faces of Children prayer partner Faye Long in prayer as she recovers from back surgery. Pray that God will bring complete healing to this faithful intercessor.
  • Give God thanks for the new prayer partners from Tanzania and Zimbabwe who have joined to pray for children through Faces of Children.
  • Please continue to pray that more churches and individuals will join with the ministry of Faces of Children in spreading awareness about children in crisis and inviting more people to pray for children at risk.

Oh, Father! Have mercy on your people in Burma! Comfort those dear children, and provide for their needs. May they lie down in peace and sleep. In Jesus’ name
