Prayer Concerns for the Week of December 1, 2014

  • Please be in prayer for 33-year-old Nicoli who is under hospice care in Belize. This young mother of two has been diagnosed with terminal cervical and uterine cancer. Pray for God’s healing and peace to be upon her.
  • Pray for Nicoli’s sons, 10-year-old Reagan and his 3-year-old brother, as they cope with the imminent loss of their mother. Pray for a community of support to surround these two boys during this dark season. Pray they will experience God’s love and concern through this community. Pray the brothers will be placed together in a safe home after their mother’s death.

South Sudan

  • Keep in prayer the estimated one million people who have fled South Sudan’s civil war. Pray God will provide for the most immediate and deepest needs of the children and families displaced by this three-year-old conflict.
  • Pray for the internally displaced people (IDPs) whose current living conditions are deplorable. Pray for the safety of IDPs who are at risk of further violence because of their vulnerable circumstances.
  • Please pray for girls, boys, women, and men who’ve been victims of the horrific sexual violence used as a weapon of war by both sides in this conflict. A majority of the victims have been below age 18 with the youngest victim only 2 years old. Pray for young victims who’ve been raped, gang raped, abducted, forced into sexual slavery, or coerced into marriage. Pray for healing, comfort, and freedom for these traumatized children.
  • Pray God will provide the resources needed to help victims of sexual violence recover physically and psychologically.
  • Pray for a radical shift away from using sexual violence as a weapon of war. Pray for a change of heart in those in the military and rival militias who encourage men to rape women and girls based on their ethnic backgrounds or political affiliations.
  • Pray for peace, reconciliation, and healing in South Sudan, the world’s newest country.

Thailand, Burma

  • Please keep the staff and volunteers with Christian Far East Ministry close in prayer during a difficult season. Thai authorities won’t allow foreigners into several refugee camps along the Thai/Burma border at this time, possibly due to clandestine meetings between foreign military personnel and leaders of an ethnic rebel militia.
  • Pray this situation will be resolved soon and that Mae La Muu and Mae La Oon refugee camps will be opened again. Pray the organization will be allowed to continue its ministry to the children in these camps.
  • Pray for the leaders of this ministry as they seek God’s guidance on how to proceed in the current circumstances.

United States

  • Pray for 18-month-old Leanne* and her mother and grandparents during this challenging time in their lives. Leanne’s mother was arrested after she was found passed out in her car on a busy highway. She was under the influence of multiple drugs and had Leanne in the back seat of the car.
  • Pray Leanne will feel God’s comforting presence in what must be a confusing and frightening time for this little one. Please pray she is in a safe place with qualified caregivers.
  • Pray Leanne’s mother will experience healing from her deep-rooted addictions. If she is convicted, Leanne’s mother faces up to 10 years in prison for a third-degree felony.
  • Please keep Leanne’s grandparents close in prayer as well. Pray for healing in their relationships with their troubled daughter and her little girl.
