Build A Bed

Ahhhh, here’s nothing better than crawling into your own bed after a hard day at work or play, but many children around the world do not have this luxury. In some Eastern European countries like Moldova, the conditions in orphanages are often very poor. Boys and girls sleep on old metal cots that sag to the floor because the springs have broken. The children curl up on mattresses that are filthy and full of germs and disease because old beds are just too expensive to replace. In Africa, most orphans sleep on the floor – maybe on some scraps of foam if they have them. They need beds to protect them from crawling, biting insects and mosquito nets to protect them from deadly malaria.

Sweet Sleep’s vision is to provide “a bed for every head.” You can help to bring sweet sleep to the world’s 210 million orphaned and abandoned children. Pick your project dates – VBS, summer camp, fall retreat, Sunday School – anytime is a great time to teach your kids about the needs of orphans. Then request the materials you need for the project including videos, promotional pieces, mission moments, and coin collection boxes.

It doesn’t take much to help a lot. Look what kids working together can do.

•    $8 provides a mosquito net for orphans in Africa or Haiti.
•    $10 provides a Bible for an orphan in his or her language.
•    $50 provides a bed and bedding for orphan resettlement kits in northern Uganda.
•    $125 provides a bed for a child in Africa.
•    $167 provides a bed for an orphan in Haiti.
•    $200 provides a bed for a Moldovan orphan.
