It’s almost time for the school bell to ring. Have you shopped for your new notebooks, pencils, crayons, and glue yet? Every child deserves to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed, but many poor and homeless children in America, can’t afford school supplies. When finding the money to pay for food and housing is an ongoing struggle, imagine how families feel when the school sends home a long list of required supplies. You can help thousands of desperately poor American children head back to school with all of the basic school supplies they need. Feed The Children is a Christian organization that not only focuses on hunger, but partners with educators to distribute books and supplies to boys and girls living in poverty. Why? Because if a child doesn’t have food, they certainly don’t have other basic necessities like pencils and notebooks. Here are two ways to give less fortunate children the tools they need to succeed in school!

Donate money:

•    A gift of $35 provides school supplies for 10 children.

•    A gift of $20 provides a backpack filled with essential school supplies for a homeless child.

Donate School Supplies:

Purchase and send school supplies that will be distributed to the schools with the most need in each state. All supplies sent to Feed The Children must be new.

List of suggested supplies:
pencils, pencil sharpener, pens, ruled notebook paper, spiral notebooks, folders, crayons, colored pencils, markers/highlighters, rulers, scissors, protractors, compasses, small calculators, pocket dictionaries, children’s books, books of puzzles/games.
